• A new artist book titled "Cryptographic Biosphere," written in both English and Japanese, by UK-based multimedia artist Zoetika Eb and Japanese avant-garde writer Kenji Shiratori, will be released at the Tokyo Literary Market 43.

  Developed from photographs and field records taken during a winter journey across Hokkaido, this book expands Eb's "Alien Botany" series into potentiality, signals, and parallel, enduring ecosystems. Snow and ice, while accumulating traces, constantly erasing and rewriting their surfaces, becoming a sensory medium that preserves forms of memory beyond ordinary human perception.

  Contemporary Hokkaido has transformed into an unknown realm of contact, and the photographs and texts are presented as historical records recovered in 2189. Photographs by Eb, English texts, and field notes are interwoven with signal dialogues and Japanese translations by Shiratori. Each element moves through the book, maintaining its own rhythm and density, creating a structure in which meaning moves between image, language, and cryptographic communication.

  The translucent fold-out pages are printed with fragmented words, symbols, and map-like traces that can be overlaid on different photographs and texts. Texts are transformed, images are fragmented, and new arrangements temporarily emerge.

  Combining speculative research, xenopoetics, and material experimentation, "The Cryptographic Biosphere" behaves like the very environment it describes: multi-layered, unstable, responsive, and constantly being reshaped.
