• 2024年4月27日の昼下がり、東京で開催された切手展・スタンプショウの販売ブ
  ースで、京都の骨董品店が持ってきていた古絵葉書の山があり、探りを入れました。
  ほとんどが日本のどこかを写したものでしたが何故か数少ない海外ものの中でも1910
  年前後のバンクーバーとその周辺のものが大量に見つかったので買いました。１枚
  100円でしたが枚数が多かったので値段は相当かさみました。ほとんどは未使用でし
  たが一部の使用済みは滋賀県米原市に向けて年賀状として宛てられており、琵琶湖畔エ
  リアからのカナダ移民の歴史を感じられました。手に入れて本書に収録した絵葉書は
  バンクーバーのものが大半ですが、ビクトリアから数枚、バンフ、シアトルから2枚、
  プリンス・ルパート、オカナガン湖、エメラルド湖、トレイル、ルイーズ湖から各1
  枚です。
  
  In the early afternoon of 27th April 2024, at the Stamp Show, a philatelic exhibition
  held at Tokyo, I explored a pile of old postcards brought by an antique dealer from
  Kyoto. Most of them were from somewhere in Japan, but I found a several number
  of them from Vancouver and some other places of North America around 1910
  among the few overseas ones. Most of them were unused, but some used them as
  New Year's cards to Maibara, Shiga, which makes me imagine for the history of
  Canadian immigration from some villages at coast of Lake Biwa. Most of the
  postcards were from Vancouver, but a few from Victoria, Banff, Seattle, Prince
  Rupert, Lake Okanagan, Emerald Lake, Trail and Lake Louise.
